PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for monitoring and reporting incidents occurring at different locations and for assigning officers for investigations.  Incumbents also monitor the security of the central office.

 

REPORTS TO: Campus Police Office Manager

SALARY SCHEDULE: G-6

WORK DAYS: 250

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education Level: High school diploma 

 Experience, Skill, and Certification: 

 

  • Work experience with various types of office machinery and computer operations
  • Demonstrable ability to understand and follow oral and written communications including by telephone and radio
  • Demonstrable communications skills, including clarity, tact, courtesy and calm during stressful situations
  • Must complete and pass the GCIC required terminal operator certification training within 6 months of employment
  • Must complete and pass communications officer
  • certification
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays

Preferrred:  

  • Experience in police/emergency dispatching
  • GCIC Terminal Operator Certified
  • Communication Officer Certified


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Maintains alarm log, telephone log, and radio log.
  2. Dispatches officers to alarm locations.
  3. Maintains an itinerary of campus police officers.
  4. Maintains a criminal report number log.
  5. Monitors and operates alarm computer.
  6. Operates GCIC/NCIC computer.
  7. Operates fingerprinting equipment and processes reports.
  8. Operates ID carding equipment and makes badges for employees.
  9. Monitors the security of the central office when on duty while the building is closed and other times as needed.
  10. Works a rotating shift, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  11. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of employees, students, and visitors

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Incumbents will be considered “at will.”  This position is considered to be “essential personnel, critical staff” when there is an event that creates security challenges or disruptions to district operations. This position may be required to work during identified periods of an emergency as defined in Policy Regulation GBRB-R, Title: Professional Personnel Time Schedules. Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade as determined by Human Resources and allowableexperience.  The work calendar will be 250 days
