Description

Savannah Classical Academy Charter School is a Locally Authorized K-12 Public Charter school and operates autonomously from SCCPSS.

 

In anticipation of potential vacancies and planned enrollment expansion for the 2021-2022 School Year Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) is seeking candidates that are highly skilled and passionate about their content area. SCA is a K-12 public charter school. The 2021-2022 school year will be the 9th year of our operation. Currently, there are 409 students enrolled in grades K-12. For grades 9-12, there are fifty three students currently enrolled.  Once fully enrolled (2024) SCA will have 640 students in grades K-12.

 

The successful teaching candidate will be very knowledgeable in both content and proven instructional practices that result in successful student outcomes.

SCA teachers are members of the Georgia Teachers Retirement System (TRS) and are eligible to participate group medical, dental, vision, and supplemental coverages. Salaries for certified positions are based on the local district's published salary scale. Some advertised positions qualify for relocation and signing bonuses.

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  To provide appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the class.

SALARY SCHEDULE:  Teacher

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education Level:  Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university            Preferred:  Advanced degree(s)
  2. Experience, Skill and Certification:  Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in the assigned teaching field Elementary Education or meet Georgia's Professionally Qualified standards for charter schools.

  12. Maintains effective physical setting for instruction
  13. Maintains appropriate student behavior in the classroom

 

     General Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.       
  2. Complies with school, district, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies.
  3. Demonstrates professional practices in teaching.
  4. Acts in a professional manner and assumes responsibility for the total school program, its safety and good order.
  5. Performs other duties as required based on the specific content area taught (such as content-area competitions, after-hours activities, and so on).
  6. Plans and coordinates purposeful assignments for paraprofessional(s), other supporting staff, and volunteer(s), and provides input to the administrative staff on the performance of these individuals.
  7. Performs other duties as required by the district, the school, or student need.

CLASSROOM   Employees in this category spend at least most of the workday in a typical classroom or related educational environment. There will be prolonged periods of standing or walking, and there may be frequent bending, stooping, or stretching. There are occasions that require the lifting or pulling of equipment or supplies. Reading, listening, writing, and speaking are requirements. There are few exceptional physical or sensory demands, but there may be occasions that require the lifting or restraint of a student.
