PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for the coordination of all related STEM/STEAM Magnet instructional programs to ensure the most effective impact of these programs and activities on student growth and achievement.

 

REPORTS TO: MSAP Project Director

SALARY SCHEDULE: Teach

WORK DAYS: 250

 

REQUIREMENTS:

1.  Education Level: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.  

Preferred: Education Specialist of Doctorate

 

2.  Experience, Skill, and Certification: 

  • Valid Georgia teaching certification
  • At least five (5) years of successful classroom experience.
  • Creative thinker and posses a strong understanding of STEAM curriculum 
  • Knowledge of effective instructional strategies and research based best practices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to write reports and conduct presentations.
  • Leadership experience, working in teams, and coaching/mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrable understanding of adult learning and training.
  • Desire to continue learning and applying best practices
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite and online instructional technology tools.
  • Ability to structure own time and to manage multiple priorities.

 

PREFERRED

  • Certification in educational leadership
  • Successful experience planning and delivering professional development
  • Teacher Support Specialist endorsement 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  • Mentors/coaches teachers to improve the instructional delivery and to customize the learning process to project-based learning, and to meet individual student learning needs.
  • Plans and collaborates with central and school personnel to help move to a cross-curricular level of teaching that changes their practices as educators that will result in a more creative and interactive learning environment for students.
  • Plans and coordinates with director to provide in-person and online professional development to support group or individual learning activities.
  • Participates in New Teacher Induction Institute, THRIVE programs, and other programs to support the sustainability of STEAM programs.
  • Promotes the concepts and major principles of STEAM through connections with other core content areas.
  • Promotes and endorses STEM Certification for teachers who display exemplary teaching skills.
  • Arranges staff development and training to meet the accountability requirements of the MSAP grant and for the success of student growth and achievement.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of courses for school personnel and other staff as allowed by the MSAP Grant.
  • Assists with course/training development for STEM/STEAM Specialists and teachers.
  • Conducts orientations/trainings for all MSAP school level participants.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate submission of quarterly or annual reports and other documentation as needed to support the assigned programs and MSAP grant.
  • Presents reports and presentations to the Board of Education as appropriate.
  • Ensures involvement with and communication to students, parents, and the local community as appropriate for concerning curriculum and instructional services.
  • Serves on the MSAP advisory committees, as needed.
  • Serves as a district liaison for the MSAP at both local and state levels.
  • Performs other duties that support MSAP goals and as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 250 days. Salary will be determined based on level of certification and allowable experience. Exempt.
This position is funded through MSAP and is subject to funding.
