PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for planning and conducting instructional programs designed to introduce students into STEAM related fields.

 

REPORTS TO: Principal

 

SALARY SCHEDULE:  Teacher

 

WORK DAYS:  190

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Educational Level: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Preferred: Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology or STEM related field

 

Experience, Skill and Certification: 

     Required:

  • Valid teaching certification.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching using technology within the classroom.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills: ability to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, families, business partners, and staff personnel.
  • A proven track record in the use of a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
  • Evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning.
  • Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position.
  • Proven ability to apply science and/or math content knowledge, formative assessment, and technology integration at a high level.
  • Deep understanding of student learning theory, brain-based learning, and differentiated instruction.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with teachers regarding student learning.
  • Desire to continue learning “what works” in classroom instruction

     Preferred:

  • Experience working with the Technology Student Association (TSA)

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Teaches various engaging lessons and related topics to students wishing to pursue post-secondary classes in a STEAM related field.
  2. Makes industry connections to promote learning and utilizes advisory committees for regular input.
  3. Works additional hours outside the normal workday periodically to provide additional learning experiences for the students in after-hours or weekend events.
  4. Prepares online lesson plans to support project-based learning, and develops programs syllabi, goals and objectives.
  5. Participates in professional development associated with STEAM program development and improvement.
  6. Maintains online lesson plans that reflect and are aligned to Georgia’s current standards of learning.
  7. Integrates work ethics, safety, and other appropriate health procedures in the instruction program.
  8. Organizes time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction.
  9. Uses strategies embedded in Technology Students Association (TSA); embeds lessons in citizenship, leadership, and human relations within the lesson plans.
  10. Maintains a proper learning environment for all students.
  11. Establishes criterion reference items to assess student attainment of objectives or competencies.
  12. Maintains supplies and equipment as needed for classes and labs.
  13. Participates in professional development activities, school committees, and in-service programs.
  14. Creates and provides reports as needed to meet the accountability components of the MSAP grant.
  15. Develops ideas and makes recommendations for the improvement of total school's program.
  16. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, technology tools, and assessments for teaching and learning and for creating an interactive and creative learning experience for students.
  17. Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration.
  18. Works directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of STEM initiatives and curriculum.
  19. Coaches non-STEM teachers on STEM initiatives and instructional best practices in the STEM areas.
  20. Serves as liaison to prospective or selected STEM vendors, to determine the best resources, options and innovations that will optimize the learning experience for students and staff.
  21. Initiates new programs that support the STEM program. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization.

 

Terms of Employment

Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 190 days.  Salary will be determined based on level of certification and allowable experience. Exempt.

Position is MSAP Grant Funded: ends March 31, 2026

CLASSROOM Employees in this category spend at least most of the workday in a typical classroom or related educational environment.  There will be prolonged periods of standing or walking, and there may be frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.  There are occasions that require the lifting or pulling of equipment or supplies.  Reading, listening, writing, and speaking are requirements.  There are few exceptional physical or sensory demands, but there may be occasions that require the lifting or restraint of a student. 

 

OTHER  Incumbents must have valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation due to frequent travel between school locations
