PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for supporting families in the understanding of the STEAM Magnet School choice process, and for assisting families with school choice assignment and the enrollment process. This position is responsible for assisting with the coordination of various STEAM parent activities and events.

 

REPORTS TO: Principal

SALARY SCHEDULE: G-6

WORK DAYS: 250

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education Level: Associates degree

Experience, Skill, and Certification: 

  • A minimum of three (3) years in education with at least two (2) years working directly with families.
  • Knowledge of Career/Technical education, Elementary/Middle School curriculum, instruction, student organizations, and/or relationship models
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, social media, and online technology tools.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills: ability to establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with students, families, business partners, and staff personnel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to write reports and conduct presentations.
  • Ability to coordinate and lead activities and events.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include evenings and weekends

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Works as a member of the school’s Parent TEAM, School, Planning and Management TEAM, Student and Staff Support TEAM to develop, execute, and assess a strategic plan for parental engagement and/or involvement. Provides orientation and support to families, students, and teachers.
  2. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with parents to increase student achievement by helping parents understand what their children need to know to be successful learners.
  3. Coordinates and conducts parent/community outreach sessions as needed to meet the accountability requirements of the MSAP Grant.
  4. Reinforces learning from teachers and guides students/families with enrichment and remedial materials needed for the success of students.
  5. Helps to build partnerships between families, schools, and the community organizations to reach “hard-to-reach” parents.
  6. Maintains the library of materials for parents located in a parent center.
  7. Coordinates with the school volunteers to support the STEAM programs.
  8. Prepares and administers training sessions and school-based visits for parents and students on STEAM Magnet School Model
  9. Attends Professional Learning as appropriate or required.
  10. Disseminates printed and electronic STEAM Magnet School materials, events, and information on public website.
  11. Develops and maintains business partner relationships to support the STEAM programs within the school.
  12. Coordinates with school staff parent meetings and workshops on STEAM programs.
  13. Participates in the administration and oversite of the STEAM lottery application process for the school.
  14. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization with the expectation that a flexible schedule may be necessary to best address the needs of parents.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Incumbents will be considered “at will.”  Appropriate pay will be determined by Human Resources based on Grade 6 of the classified hourly scale and allowable experience.  The work calendar will be the 250- workday schedule. Position is MSAP Grant Funded: ends March 31, 2026
