PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Campus Monitor provides interactive services on the Alternative Program campus to achieve a safe school environment in an alternative education setting.

 

REPORTS TO: Principal/ Center Leader, Alternative Program

SALARY SCHEDULE: G-5

WORK DAYS: 200

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Education Level: An Associate's Degree; or 60 semester / 90 quarter hours of college credit from an accredited organization; or passing score on the state-approved assessment

Preferred:

 

  1. Experience, Skill, and Certification: 
  • Demonstrable ability to provide support for teachers and students in maintaining a positive and orderly climate for student achievement
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations and experience with typical office software programs and the internet; including skill in data entry and typing
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to make decisions in stressful situations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Provides support for teachers and administrative staff regarding the safe and orderly operation of schools by monitoring and supervising student behavior in hallways, restrooms, classrooms, and other locations on-campus.
  1.  Assists school administrators in the application of the Code of Student Conduct, including the proper reporting of any violations.
  1. Assists school personnel with non-instructional duties such as breakfast/lunchtime supervision; bathroom monitoring; bus loading; and by implementing other procedures designed to ensure the supervision and safety of students.
  1. Assists the In-School Suspension Paraprofessional as necessary.
  2. Supervises classrooms when the teacher is required to leave for a brief period of time.
  1. Regularly monitors classrooms which are staffed by substitute teachers.
  2. Monitors visitors to the campus and directs them to the office for assistance.
  1. Supervises after-school detention as scheduled.
  2. Assists with student behavior control during special events such as assemblies, lock-downs, performances, or the removal of students from a classroom or other setting as necessary.
  1. Takes immediate action to diffuse or control negative situations, including notification to school administration and school resource officers.
  1. Participates in all necessary training programs.
  2. Models and maintains high standards of personal behavior, and maintains positive communication with students.
  1. Performs other duties as necessary for the safe and orderly operation of the school.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Incumbents are considered “at will.” Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade as determined by Human Resources and allowable experience. The work calendar will be the classified 200-day schedule plus 10 extended year days (TBD). Non-exempt (G-5).
