PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position supports the physical security technology-based systems and is responsible for ensuring the components of the security systems are functioning effectively. In addition, the position will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the proper operation of disparate physical security systems.

 

 

REPORTS TO: Physical Security Technology Engineer

SALARY SCHEDULE:Grade 12

WORK DAYS: 250

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution

 

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related degree

 

  1. Experience, Skill, and Certification: 
  • Three + years of experience supporting hardware/software in an enterprise network environment.
  • Working knowledge of physical security systems, including access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection.
  • Knowledge of IP-based security platforms, including network infrastructure and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and provide documentation covering network hardware, software, and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills - working well and getting along with various customers and other technical personnel.
  • Knowledge of access control and data wiring standards.

 

Preferred:

  • Strong understanding of security principles, including risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Certifications by authorized manufacturers of physical security platforms such as S2 access control and Axis Communications.
  • Experience installing category 5 data cabling and/or Wiegand access control cabling.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Serves as Tier 2 technical support.
  2. Provides remote and on-site troubleshooting and technical support for physical security systems, including cameras, audio solutions, software, and emergency controls.
  3. Installs, configures, and troubleshoots physical security-based technology components.
  4. Documents and maintains layouts and maps of security component locations.
  5. Conducts regular inspections and testing of security system components to ensure they function properly.
  6. Participates in physical security technology projects, including field rollouts of software, updates, and remote support.
  7. Provides support on school intercom, paging, bell system, and site-based/district-wide emergency notification.
  8. Works with technical personnel and other departments to ensure the proper support and maintenance of physical security systems.
  9. Provides basic training to departments and schools on security systems.
  10. Performs other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the organization. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Incumbents will be considered “at will.”  Appropriate pay will be determined based on the Grade 12 as determined by Human Resources and allowable experience. This is a 250 day position.
