PRIMARY FUNCTION:The School Support Officer (SSO) is an executive leadership position under the direction of the Network Superintendent. The primary responsibility of the School Support Officer (SSO) is support and development of principals as instructional leaders. School Support Officers (SSOs) in collaboration with the Network Superintendent inform the selection, hiring, and appraising of principals. They are expected to develop principals’ capacity to improve school performance. School Support Officers (SSOs) are also responsible for working in partnership with district departments to monitor and support principals in appropriate implementation and adherence to federal, state, and district policies and procedures.

 

REPORTS TO:  Network Superintendent

SALARY SCHEDULE: 229 Principal Scale + Supplement

WORK DAYS: 250

 

REQUIREMENTS:

1.  Education Level:  Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.

 

Preferred: Education Specialist or earned doctorate

 

2.  Experience, Skill, and Certification:  

 

Preferred: Experience in a large urban system characterized by multi- ethnic and cultural diversity.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 250 days. Salary will be determined based on the level of certification and allowable experience on the 229 Principal Scale + Supplement.   New 03-2024
